I love living in New York City. It is fast paced, never boring and filled with culture to share with Marcus. But let’s not pretend it doesn’t come with some downsides. It stinks in the summer. Literally. Don’t even get me started on the traffic. And we have the fun of living in very small spaces. With even smaller closets. Which is no good for this girl trying to get her style on! Thankfully, I found the answer to my Carrie Bradshaw dreams – a plus size clothing subscription box. Unlimited wardrobe, no closet space required!

It isn’t what you think. There are no two toned shoes like renting a pair of kicks from the bowling alley. Trust me on this. There have been clothing subscriptions out there for straight size women for ages, but Gwynnie Bee is the first high quality, plus size clothing subscription box I have come across. And I have tried them all. The best part is that you get as many clothes as you can wear in a month. Life changing.
I’ve always been a little fickle when it comes to clothes. I will love something when I try it on at the store, wear it three times, and then decide that it doesn’t suit me. I have waisted so much money of clothes I thought were “perfect” only to have them sit in my closet for months before I eventually donated them.
Or you know when you buy the most amazing t-shirt? It fits just right and the fabric is soft. And then you wash it… And once it comes out, it is misshapen, too short and already starting to pill. SO. FRUSTRATING. I finally decided to start a capsule wardrobe and focus only on the basics. It worked so great for a long time, but eventually, I wanted to switch things up and add in some fun pieces.
Gwynnie Bee totally curbs my need to shop on a regular basis. All of the best dresses and statement peices that you guys ask about are from my rental box. I usually just wear something once and send it back! The size range is phenomenal, as well! They are totally inclusive with sizing from 0-32. How amazing is that?! They have some of my favorite designers, from Universal Standard, to Lucky Brand, to Eloquii.
HOW IT WORKS
Curate Your Wardrobe
When you first get signed up with Gwynnie Bee, you go through a series of questions to determine your style, sizing and and preferences you may have. Super quick and easy. You then get to go through the hundreds of different options they have and hand pick pieces that work for your lifestyle and body. I love this part! So many subscription boxes don’t let you choose your clothes. Half the time you end up with something you would never wear. But everything that shows up at my door is something that I chose. The standard plan lets you have two pieces out at a time.
Keep As Long As You Want
There have been a few pieces that I haven’t been able to let go very quickly. They were either worn on a special occasion and just felt too good to let go, or I was madly in love. And if you love an item enough, like I did with the peach dress and velvet moto jacket, you can buy it for a discounted price. Genius. As soon as you are ready to send it back, you log in and “return” your item. Then you pack it up in the purple, pre paid shipping bag they provide you and send it on it’s way. They start prepping your next box as soon as your hit that return button in your profile!
Stop Doing Laundry
It just keeps getting better, doesn’t it? My FAVORITE part of the whole subscription (alright, all of it is my favorite…) is that you just send the clothes back. You don’t have to wash them or worry about dry cleaning. They take care of it all for you! Clothes are dry cleaned when they get back to the warehouse. Every box that has arrived has been perfectly steamed and ready to wear out of the box. The people who put them together have magic folding powers, I swear!
