I’m not sure if I am going to be in the city on Valentine’s Day, so Mr Gutierrez and I are having a special date night in tonight. We are doing homemade sushi, a nice bottle of wine and cozying up for a phone free movie night.
Even though we will be at home, I am putting my best face forward and getting a little bit glammed up. Mr Gutz loves when I where no make up at all, but he definitely appreciates a little bit of effort and some throwbacks to our early dating days. So, an easy, smokey eye is what is going down tonight.
Tips for Rocking a Subtle Smokey Eye
- Keep your lipstick sharp – Either go with a nude gloss or be sure your bold lip is totally bulletproof. You want to keep things looking on point, not sloppy.
- Conceal it all – When doing a bold eye, I like to go for a full coverage foundation. I want to have a blank canvas on my face and cover any blemishes or dark spots to make the eyeshadow really pop.
- Blend until your wrist hurts – And then blend a little more. Things will look like a hot mess until you put on mascara and concealer. Just trust the process. And keep blending.
I saved the full tutorial for this makeup look over on my Instagram story highlights if you want to see how I achieved this look.
