I’ve moved A LOT in the last ten years. It’s kind of a running joke within my friend and family, but I can’t help it. I have been on the search for “home”, and never wanted to settle for less.
Moving is part of New York culture, too. Those months before your lease is up, you can’t help but look around at what’s available. A bigger kitchen. Larger bathroom. Maybe amenities? There is always compromise when looking for a New York apartment, and maybe you will get one more thing on your list if you just move one more time.
We got SO lucky last year when we found our current place. It has almost everything I could ask for and more, and I don’t see us moving anywhere unless we decide to buy. But, it was still hard to actually settle in for some reason.
Changing furniture to suit the new space and hanging photos on the wall feel like commitment. And I haven’t really been ready to seal the deal. Maybe it is because we rent, or maybe I have been secretly holding out hope for an apartment with a washer and dryer in it. I don’t think I put a single photo up in our last home. Probably because I knew it wasn’t ever really home.
I recently walked into my bedroom and just felt READY to finally make this space our own and put some holes in the walls! I wanted to start with our bedroom and make it cozy and welcoming with some new sheets and by popping some art above the bed.
I wanted to keep things affordable, and Walmart recently partnered with Art.com to offer prints, framed work and canvases on their site. I browsed through the different selections, and picked out a few neutral prints to run passed my husband, including these matching pink toned prints. They were by far my favorite, but I doubted Mr Gutierrez would go for the blush!
Surprisingly, he ok’d them right away! Wife win! The shipping was much faster than I anticipated, and the frames came packaged with care and not a scratch in sight. They look great hanging over our bed with some much needed new bedding!
Now that I have my bedroom looking fresh, I can’t wait to start adding a few more pieces to the rest of our home. Walmart and Art.com have some great prints for children’s rooms, and I am on the hunt for a standout piece for our dining area. Sharing a few that I am considering below, as well as the details of our bedroom.
