This month of August has hit me like a ton of bricks. Between the miserable humidity, the crazy heat, and having zero time for myself, I am just feeling a little burnt out. One thing I do for myself every day, is get ready.
It is really important for me to take a few minutes to myself in the mornings to throw on some makeup and put a little effort into my hair. It doesn’t have to be much, but when that four pm slump rolls around, I feel so much less blah about myself when I have put a little something into my appearance.

My five minute face has been super minimal and fresh faced lately. Zero eyeshadow, sometimes no mascara, and just a hint of color in my cheeks. The heat gives me the rest!
Here is what I have been using!
- Moisturizer – I always apply sunscreen in the morning, and this is my current favorite. SPF 50 for the win!
- Foundation – I’ve used this foundation on and off since it’s release, but I especially like the wear time during the summer months. It is medium to full coverage, and looks like skin. I wear the shade Cool Beige 10.
- Concealer – This concealer has pretty new packaging, but the formula is the same. It is full coverage and totally sweat proof. Just make sure to set with a powder! I wear the shade Fair Warm
- Powder – I’ve been switching things up with this Fenty Beauty Powder. It seems to keep my makeup in place really well and it is very finely milled. I use the shade Butter
- Bronzer – An oldie but a goodie. my oldest loves when I wear this, because it really does smell like chocolate! I have the medium deep shade, and make sure to apply with a light hand!
- Blush – I don’t know the last time I used any other blush than this, and i have yet to hit pan. The shade Mood Exposure is my all time favorite blush, and I will cry if they ever stop making it.
- Brows – Don’t get me wrong, I love the Anastasia brow gel, but this $4.99 brow gel does the exact same thing!
- Mascara – I am not loyal to one specific mascara, but I always go back to They’re Real. It is lengthening, gives good volume, but doesn’t clump. I like the fluttery effect it gives my lashes.
- Highlight – I love all three highlights in this Tarte contour palette, but I reach for the shade Gleam the most. It isn’t chunky or glittery, just a gorgeous, peachy gold sheen on the cheeks.
- Lips – Huda Beauty makes damn good liquid lips, and Trendsetter is my go to for a deeper nude. It has a bit of a brown tint to it that makes me feel super glam without having to wear a full on red.
