The minute I saw this skirt on the Anthropologie website, I gasped. I knew it was going to be mine. I am a sucker for a pleated midi skirt, but the combo of the velvet material, the bright holiday green, and the gorgeous polka dots had me drooling.
When I initially bought it, I had a very one track mind. Christmas, holiday parties, and that is it. I didn’t plan on breaking it out for every day, and figured it was a special occasion dress.
My friend Kate, from WhatKateFinds, bought the same skirt and asked if I wanted to do a style session together. I wasn’t so sure what I was going to do other than a black sweater or white button down, but I agreed, thinking I could at least get some holiday outfits planned.
After going through my closet, I was surprised by how many difference colors complimented the bright green. Mustardy yellows, rusty browns, and deep cherry wines all looked beautiful paired with this special skirt.
I started getting excited, and this is what I came up with! I realized very quickly, that I like what I like and don’t have a whole lot of variety in my closet. But I pulled a few special pops to make this skirt the star of the show.

Who is surprised I went with a white T-shirt and moto jacket? Not a soul, but this outfit is just so me. You could easily swap in a cute graphic tee or grey top to make it even more casual.
Still keeping it casual, but look how cute it is to mix prints with the polka dots! The key for effortlessly mixing prints is to make sure you have varying sizes. This would also be adorable with a pair of leopard flats.
This color combo surprised me. I had popped into the Anthropologie store to pick up a headband and the stylist there was playing around with this skirt. She put it with a beautiful cranberry suede jacket and it inspired me to try it with dusty rose. I love how the cognac accents bring out the warmth in the skirt. It is unexpected, but somehow works!
Sometimes, you just have to stay classic. I got this gorgeous wool coat from Talbot’s last year, and it is a winter staple for me. The cool grey and crips green are just perfect together. A sharp white button down tied up keeps it from being too stuffy or business. I love throwing this yellow bucket bag into an outfit for a surprise pop of color.
This is probably my favorite outfit of them all. Mainly because this is how I plan to wear it for the holidays. I LOVE this little bag from TopShop. The gingham print is so cute with the polka dots, and just enough of a fun twist to keep things interesting. A sleek black knit on top and a pair of velvet pumps makes this outfit just so chic.
