Hey, Upper East Siders. Maddy, here. This is your one and only guide to shopping in New York City. Alright, your one and only plus size babe here to share with you exactly where to shop when you are in the big apple!
Being the fashion capital of the world, we have more places to shop for plus size clothing than your average town. But options are still limited, and selection can be hit or miss at some places. So, I’m here to share all of my favorite places to hit up when I am in need of an outfit for any occasion.
I wanted to make this list as thorough as possible, highlighting the best of the best here in NYC. I have my go to places to shop, but there are so many possibilities. The world is your oyster if you are above a size 14 in Manhattan.
Please note…!
While many brands have flagship stores here in the city and stock plus sizes, not every location is going to have inclusive sizing options. I have included the exact locations that offer plus sizes IN STORE. Make sure you call before to confirm. This post is accurate as of updating November 2, 2019.

Anthropologie
50 Rockefeller Plaza, Rockefeller Center, New York, NY 10020
(212) 246-0386
Obviously, I couldn’t write this post and not include Anthropologie as my number one. It is by far my favorite store to shop in, and a must visit if you are looking for a great shopping experience. The employees are SO helpful, the stylists are happy to help, and I have never felt more welcome and accepted walking into a straight size store that extended their sizing.
The Rockefeller location is huge and has a wonderful selection on the main floor. The dressing rooms are huge, and the home decor selection is beyond. If you can only make time for one store, make it this one!
MODCLOTH
42 Crosby St, New York, NY 10012
(646) 822-3717
This is one of the funnest stores to shop in, especially if you are visiting! All of the items they have in store come in 00-4x! They have a wide variety of styles and the staff are phenomenal.
They have some items to purchase in store, but more of their items are shipped to you two day express for free. Perfect for those visiting from out of town with limited luggage space.
MODCLOTH HAS CLOSED THIS LOCATION
ELOQUII
120 Wooster St, New York, NY 10012
(646) 868-0112
This is my number one suggestion if you need a fabulous outfit at the last minute. If you are looking for a great outfit for an event, wedding or special occasion, hit up Eloquii! I had never been able to shop for clothes in SoHo until they put their permanent location in on Wooster.
This is another place that just feels good to walk into. The space is bright and beautiful, and the staff is really helpful. I never feel uncomfortable and always want to pop out of the dressing room to chat outfits with the sales associates.
LOFT
156 5th Ave, New York, NY 10010
(212) 675-7457
When Loft launched plus sizes, I was so excited! There isn’t a whole lot in the work wear department for plus size women, and Loft does business casual so well!
The Flatiron location is the only one in the city with plus sizes as of right now, but they have a pretty decent selection and always have great sales!
OLD NAVY
150 W 34th St, New York, NY 10001
(212) 594-0049
When you just need some cute and comfy basics at an affordable price point, there is no where better to shop than Old Navy. The Herald Square location is HUGE. Four floors of amazingness with a huge plus size department.
While I am not a huge fan of this location in general, I am so grateful to have an Old Navy that carries plus sizes in store.
MACY’S
151 W 34th St, New York, NY 10001
(212) 695-4400
Macy’s is where I go if I need a last minute dress for an event, some fun nike activewear, or something random like a swimsuit. It is a huge store, with a decent sized plus department. Unfortunately, it is a disaster every time I go and horribly laid out. The staff isn’t the most helpful, and the dressing room is always uncomfortably hot.
But… I still pop in from time as it is a store that fills a specific need for me in desperate times! It can be a one stop shop, from shoes to accessories, so convenience sometimes wins. Since Anthro added plus to their Rockefeller store, I have been shopping here a little less.
UNIVERSAL STANDARD
192 Mercer St fl 4, New York NY 10012
(646) 678-3058
Currently, the Universal Standard store has moved from an open store with a full stock, to a more limited show room that is generally open via appointment only. Make sure to call in advance and be sure to see a stylist! It is worth a visit, and such a beautiful space!
I would love to hear where you have been shopping in the city that I may have missed! I know this isn’t all comprehensive, but these are by far my most favorite stores to shop in person!
Do you have any suggestions on larger wider shoes Nordstrom’s obviouly But good quality shoes Torrid & Lane B but these are not higher quality shoes any suggestions 10-11 wide width?
Great job putting together this article. I’m always looking for great places to shop for plus size clothing. I didn’t know that ModCloth had and brick and mortar store in New York City. Some of your information is now outdated. Eloquii close their store, Loft stop making plus size clothing company wide, and anthropology stopped caring plus size clothing in their NYC stores.
Universal standard is also permanently closed.
Hey, Brittany! At the top of this post, it says the last time it was updated. But yes, almost all stores here have stopped carrying plus sizes or now are closed. The only places I know to shop in store are Nordstrom, Athleta, and Macys. And some Old Navy’s.
