I have long been a girl who refused to buy expensive hair tools. I just did not believe that spending a little extra money on a blow dryer or straightener really made that much of a difference. I have pretty manageable hair, fine and thin. It dries quickly and styles without much work.
But when my previous straightener wasn’t really doing to job I wanted, I decided it might finally be time to invest in something that was a little bit… better? I wasn’t sure what more I really wanted from a straightener, but I knew I wasn’t happy with what I was using.
I don’t often straighten my entire hair, but I like to use a straightener to tackle the fly away baby hairs, the underneath layer of hair, and I love to use my flat iron to do curls.

I got the DryBar Tress Press about six weeks ago and have been putting it to the test. Because I have fine hair, I am very protective of the few precious locks I have on my head. I am always worried about damage and try my best to take care of my hair, even when using heat tools. Since switching to The Tress Press, I feel like my hair has grown a little? Now, I know that isn’t because the flat iron makes my hair grown, but I think it has really reduced the damage that my cheap straightener was doing.
The Tress Press is a digital flat iron with titanium plates. Titanium heats up super fast, which makes a quick style totally doable. The smooth plates create lots of shine and easily glide over hair without pulling or snagging strays. It has a digital temperature settings, with the ability to customize your heat from lower to really high. I have been able to get flat iron curls that last for three days at just the medium setting!
My previous flat iron had edges that were almost too curved, and made it tricky to get a good curl. The Tress Press has just slightly rounded edges and a sleek outer shell making the flat iron curls a little bit tighter and last much longer.
The Tress Press is priced at $165 on Sephora when sold on its own. But it is also sold as a set with a few hair care products, brush and shampoo and conditioner for the same price. I have been using both the Hot Toddy as a heat protectant and Detox Dry Shampoo since I got The Tress Press and love them both.
