I’m about to enter my third trimester, and the reality of giving birth again is looming. My birth with my first son was a bit traumatic, and I have been having some pretty intense dreams about my upcoming labor and delivery experience. A positive mindset is incredibly powerful, and I am spending a few moments each day focusing on having a positive birth this time around.
At the end of the day, I know have very little control over what will happen when I enter the delivery room. And my only real goal is to have a healthy baby and a healthy mom at the end. How that happens doesn’t matter too much, but I am really hoping I can have a more enjoyable experience.
Every few days, I am changing up my lock screen on my phone to have a new affirmation. You can easily take 60 seconds a few times a day to think through your positive affirmation and focus your mind.
If you have never done daily affirmations in the past, I highly recommend starting, whether you are pregnant or not! They can be super useful to create a certain mindset. From becoming more patient, loving your body more, accepting big changes, or transforming a habit, affirmations are an amazing tool!
HOW TO USE AFFIRMATIONS
- At least twice a day, spend 1-3 minutes saying your affirmations out loud.
- Say your chosen affirmation 10 times slowly.
- If possible, say your affirmations to yourself in a mirror.
- Be consistent. Try not to skip a day!
- Ask your partner to participate. You say your affirmation, then have your partner repeat it. For example: You say, “My body is safe. My baby is safe.” Your partner says, “Your body is safe. Our baby is safe.”
