Raise your hand if you have every doubled up on your sports bra. If you have ever sized down to where you can’t breath. How about wearing a real bra underneath your sports bra? I know I am not alone in this. Both in sports bras and in lingerie When it comes to finding the most important piece of activewear for women, anything over a D cup can’t be found?
Having a large chest comes with it’s own set of blessings and curses. Great crumb catcher. Shirts are always too short in the front. Easy storage for lipstick in your bra. Doing jumping jacks require a roll of duct tape, safety goggles and a warning sign. This has been my struggle since high school. Friends would go into a place like Target and be able to grab whatever $20 brightly colored bra that they felt like and not have to even think twice. Never have I ever had that kind of joy.
My search finally ended when I finished breastfeeding and decided to go big or go home and fine my soul mate sports bra. I went to a bunch of different stores, did countless online orders and finally found THE ONE while browsing at Lane Bryant for a new pair of jeans. I took a chance on something that was more of an investment that I thought I was ready for, but was totally wowed.
The Maximum Support Sport Bra is legit the most important piece of activewear for women, especially if you are above a D cup. It is like the Rolls Royce of sports bras. And definitely the only thing that keeps my boobs from knocking me out during a Barry’s Bootcamp Class or a jog along the river. Hello, it comes in actual bra sizes! Why have I never seen this before?! It has molded underwire cups, mesh lining in the back so you don’t get too sweaty and FIVE hook and eye closures on the band for extra support.
It is without a doubt worthy of the heights impact activities, because the best thing is… You will still be able to breath while wearing it! No squashed lungs. No uniboob situations happening. You could totally wear the maximum support bra under your regular clothes and no one would even know you were rocking your sports bra for later underneath.
My other favorite bra is a little less intense, but no less of a work horse for us bigger busted women. The Medium Impact Cooling No Wire Sport Bra is what I always grab for yoga or spin class. This bra has the coolest fabric that feels cool to the touch and is super breathable. When I go to a spin class, I sweat like no other, and this keeps me from feeling too constrained or over heated.
Adjustable straps make going from a racerback to a standard tank top a non issue and you will always end up with the perfect fit. I was worried that I would get the tube boob since there isn’t an underwire, but, yet again, Livi Active hit it out of the park. Two breasts. No squashed. Still super supportive, just enough flexibility to keep my downward dog comfortable and did I mention it has SPF50? Totally awesome.
After years of feeling inhibited from working out, running while holding my boobs down at the same time and being physically unable to do something like a jumping jack because it hurt so much, I don’t think I will ever feel the need to search for another sports bra again.
