Mr. G and I have been married now for five years and been in crazy stupid love for eight. I have no idea how that it is even possible to have loved someone for nearly a decade! But still get a little giddy when I see his handsome face. Gone are the days were I would spend a solid hour or more on a Friday night getting ready to go out, but I my love of all things glam remains.

If there is one thing that I have found after having kids, it is making time to be together as just adults is HARD. Our life can feel totally wrapped up in my oldest, and we can go weeks without spending time truly alone. We have made it a goal to get in a date night every other week and have a standing “appointment” with our babysitter.
This week, we are hitting the town and kicking off fall with a little bit of a special date night. Which means I will be getting dressed up, putting on some heels and applying more eyeshadow than usual. I’m already so excited!
Even thought I’m getting glam, I want things to be quick and easy, with minimal fuss while I am out on the town. Glowing skin, sexy eyes and a bold, long lasting lip are all I need for a hot date with my husband.
Skin Prep
Katie Jane Hughes on Instagram is my skin goddess. I look to her for all things foundation, concealer and skin care. She recently turned me onto using Weleda Skin Food as a primer of sorts. I love how dewy and plump my skin looks when I use this! A little goes a long way. I just massage a pea sized drop onto my skin, making sure I don’t use any under my eyes to avoid concealer creasing.
Base
- For foundation, I am skipped going full coverage and decided to keep my skin looking fresh and dewy by just placing concealer on the areas I needed some coverage and blending out with a fluffy brush.
- I went with a pretty strong contour for some drama using one of my favorite face palettes (I used the cream contour), and a liquid blush to keep things blending like a dream (I used the shade Dusk).
- I set everything with a loose powder and then topped the high points of my cheeks with my favorite highlighter from the Tarte palette.
Eyes
- I kept they eyes really easy using the Naked Palette. I am so gutted this is being discontinued! It’s once of my favorites. I used the shade buck through my crease with Darkhorse blended through the outer corners and along my lower lashline. I popped Hustle into the center of my lid for a bit of a pop.
- For mascara, I have been loving the Clinique High Impact Mascara for a dramatic, but not clumpy lash.
- I did a very subtle cat eye with my favorite liquid liner.
- For brows, I just ran the BEST brow gel quickly through for a bit of definition.
Lips
I love using a “my lips but better” lipstick with a more dramatic eye. My number one go to is this one from Nars. I did a color match at Sephora and this was the number one shade suggested. I have now gone through two! This is probably one of the only lipsticks I have ever finished, let alone repurchased! The shade I love is Anita.
That is it! I did my makeup in less than five minutes, and feel like a total babe. Look out, Mr G!
