I am a huge bookworm, and when my first son was born, I was determined to raise another reader. I know we can’t really make our children love anything, but this was one thing I was totally ok with encouraging a little more! We have more books than any New Yorker should have space for, and I can’t say I am mad about it.
In each room, I have a small basket of board books for the baby that I always make sure is accessible. Whenever we are on the floor, the basket is out. On the bed in my room? The basket is there. Having books across the house allows for easy access and many opportunities for a quick story.
We obviously have all of the favorites like The Hungry Caterpillar, Guess How Much I Love You, and Goodnight Moon. Classics are timeless for a reason! But I have found some new books that I absolutely love with diverse characters, thoughtful topics, and beautiful pictures for the modern baby and family.
