January was a little bit different for me on the beauty front. For the first time in my life, I feel like I finally KNOW what I like. I know what works well on my skin, what makes me face pop and the big definitely nots. So, this month was just… easy! My skin care routine is on point. It takes me less than ten minutes to put my face on before the school run. And I think I wore the same perfume every single day! With this being said, there wasn’t a whole ton of experimenting done from me. There are a few things I have harped on about before and some new ones. So, let’s get to it!

I’ll start with a hair product, since I am working really hard on getting my hair in good shape. I am usually a Tresamme Hair Spray loyalist, but found this Healthy Sexy Hair Soya on clearance at Target, and decided to give it a go. First of all, it smells amazing. My husband will always comment how good my hair smells when I use this stuff. I like a hairspray that will smooth my flyaways and tame any wild hairs, but that isn’t going to go hard and crunchy on me. I want my hair to move and be soft to the touch at the same time. This totally fits the bill on all fronts. It’s on the pricier end to pay full price, but if I found it on sale again, I would definitely repurchase!
Shockingly, my next favorite is a foundation. I pretty much gave up on foundation last year and switched exclusively to BB/CC creams. But my one of my girlfriends always looks flawless, and I got brave and decided to try a few new to me full coverage foundations. This NYX Studio Photogenic Foundation is so nice. I would consider it more of a medium coverage, but it stays so well on my face without breaking up, even around my nose. It has a really nice satin finish, and doesn’t make me look cakey. I honestly feel like it is super skin like! I just use a really damp beauty blender to apply it. Works like a charm!
There are so many amazing, affordable lipsticks out there, that I have a hard time buying more expensive ones. But after going to Sephora for a color match to a foundation, the cute little makeup artist also suggested a few lipstick colors. I tried a few on, but left without buying anything. And yet, I couldn’t stop thinking about the Nars Audacious Lipstick in Anita. It was so creamy and really was my perfect color. I rediscovered it this month when cleaning out a few purses of mine and I have been keeping it close by ever since. It is so easy to apply, and just feels incredibly hydrating on the lips. Definitely worth the splurge!
I used to love fragrance, but when I had my oldest, I cut down on wearing it significantly. I didn’t want my baby all up in my boobs and being suffocated by Jo Malone at the same time, ya know? But I have all of this beautiful perfume, and couldn’t stand to see it just being pretty decor anymore. So, I started spraying myself a little here and there, and am now back firmly in camp Smell Like a Field of Flowers All the Time. I didn’t think I was grown up enough for the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black, but whenever I where it, I get someone asking me what perfume I am wearing. It isn’t overly floral, and is the perfect winter scent. It is a mix of both sandalwood and vanilla, but there is just something… Sexy about it that makes me shake my hips a little bit more when I am wearing it.
Now, I know a brush cleanser isn’t very much fun, but this is the only way I will actually clean my makeup brushes. The Beauty Blender blendercleanser solid is hands down the easiest way to wash your tools. You just get your brush or makeup sponge went, swirl it around in the cleanser, and then scrub it on the little silicone butterfly disk. Rinse and Voila! The cleanest and quickest your brushes will ever be. I try really hard to get mine clean at least once a week, but this makes me for sure get to my face tools that often. It is just too fast to skip. I can clean all of my brushes and sponges in ten minutes max.
Thats it for the month of January! What has been you favorite this month?
