March was the month to binge read for me. I think I devoured SEVEN books. Thanks, COVID! I read a few gems, and only one flop. But that is because life is too short to finish boring books.
If you are reading something, and aren’t completely enthralled, sucked in, and devoted to loving or hating the characters, put that book down! You wouldn’t suffer through six seasons of a Netflix show you weren’t enjoying. You don’t HAVE to finish the book. Promise you’ll be ok.
Right now, I am still very much into escapist literature. I don’t quite have the emotional capacity for non fiction, and use reading to give my brain a break from reality. Most of these books are light reads, with happy ending

- LOVE LETTERING – OMG, I loved this book from the first page. Kate Clayborn just wraps you up in her words, letter curls, and I couldn’t put it down. There was something so unique about the narrative, with Meg’s creativity and love of letters. It didn’t disappoint.
- IF I NEVER MET YOU – I had this book in my wish list for a while, but the premise just seemed a little cheesy? And then I saw Grace Atwood say she loved it. And it sealed the deal for me. Pretty much anything she recommends is a home run for me. I completely loved this book. It was sweet and charming, and I am a sucker for a British romance.
- REGRETTING YOU – The first Colleen Hoover book I read was Verity, something very different for Colleen. This was a far departure from that psychological thriller, I really enjoyed this story of a mother and daughter working through their grief after the loss of a family member.
- IN FIVE YEARS – Wrecked. This book absolutely devastated me in the best way possible. I sobbed through the end, and closed the last page with so much hope. It was not at all what I expected, but it was so much more.
- THE SHACKING UP SERIES – This was a bit of a meh for me. I’ve loved some of Helena Hunting’s previous books and was excited to have a few books in one. This series was just a little… Over the top for me. I felt a bit like I was reading Rachel Greene’s chimney sweep book that Joey finds under her pillow. It was very sex focused, which I am not opposed to. But I ended up not finishing the last book in the series because it was just so ridiculous.
- THE THINGS WE CANNOT SAY – Don’t read this if you don’t have tissues at hand. I’m not a huge historical fiction reader, but it has been calling my name recently. Set in Europe during WWII, the story of Alina completely rocked my heart. This is one I would probably read a second time, just to feel the feels again.
- SUCH A FUN AGE – This book has been talked about all over the place. As a former nanny, I was really looking forward to loving this as much as every one else. But I feel like it kind of flopped. Not that it was bad, but I was hoping for more. It was an enjoyable read, but I just personally didn’t feel like it read as well as people claimed.
What have you been reading lately? I would love to hear your suggestions for what should be next on my list!
