Biossance has been on my radar for a while now. I have a few friends who swear by the brand, and as clean beauty becomes more and more popular, they seem to be leading the pack.
I have dehydrated, sensitive skin and am in my mid thirties. Hydration, brightening, and preventative anti aging are high on my priority list when it comes to skin care. I’m also slowly moving towards cleaner products, and have committed to switching to a more natural product whenever I run out of something.
I was previously using the Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric oil, which I really enjoyed. There were just a few ingredients I didn’t really love.
Enter, Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil! I have been using this daily in my routine for ten weeks now and absolutely love it.

BIOSSANCE SQUALANE + VITAMIN C ROSE OIL
The Squalane + Vitamin C oil is a lightweight oil that promises to brighten, firm, and hydrate. It is a thinner, quick to absorb oil with very minimal smell thanks to no added fragrance. And the ingredient list is SUPER simple.
Squalane is what Boissance is known for. Our bodies naturally make squalane, but like collagen, our production of squalane decreases as we age. Biossance has created a sustainable squalane oil from renewable sugar cane.
Vitamin C is a natural brightener for the skin and helps to improve texture and elasticity while protecting your skin from free radicals. This is why I originally started using a Vitamin C oil! I am still not sure if I believe in the massive damage free radicals can do to the skin… But living in NYC means trying to protect my skin from them surely can’t hurt!
WHAT’S IN IT?
Squalane, Pistacia Lentiscus (Mastic) Gum, Rosa Damascena Flower Extract, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Geraniol
HOW I USE IT
I personally like to use an oil BEFORE my moisturizer. There is a lot of conflicting advice on when to add an oil in your routine. YOU DO YOU! But I will always abide by what Caroline Hiron’s advice, and that is oil before moisturizer. Depending on what kind of hydration my skin needs, I will use anywhere from three drops to a full pipette at night. In the morning, I will pat in one to two drops before adding sunscreen on top.
WHY I LIKE IT
When incorporating a product like this, you aren’t going to notice big, overnight changes. It is a slow improvement that you will begin to appreciate over time. I have definitely found my skin to be much more balanced, getting less oily in the afternoon than previously. I had terrible acne for years, and still suffer from quite a bit of texture from scarring, but I can see a noticeable reduction in the the severity. My skin feels much smoother, brighter, and happy.
Something that just adds to my love of the actual product, is the values of the brand. All of their shipping is carbon neutral, and the way in which their products are made use planet first processes. Their packaging is either glass or recycled plastic, and they are 100% cruelty free.
Have you tried anything from Biossance before? I just ordered the Squalane + Omega Repair Cream in the Sephora Sale, and I can’t wait to try it out!
