Masks are not the end all be all. An amazing daily skincare routine far outweighs a weekly mask. But once you have your daily regimen down pat, adding in a mask or two is like the icing on the cake. Cake is great, but it is even better with some frosting. I feel like I finally have a skincare routine that is working really well for my skin, and I have started to regularly incorporate a few masks a week and have seen an even better improvement in my overall skin tone and texture. Here are my must have masks for all skin types!

For reference, I have relatively dry skin that can be prone to breakouts. I have lots of old acne scarring and texture that I am working hard to tone down. My main goals from skincare are to clarify, hydrate and resurface!
Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
About a year ago, I heard about a Korean skin care pop up at Bergdof’s in the city and immediately put it on my schedule. I love trying new things, and there is so much hype around some of these brands. The first thing I tried was this Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask from Glow Recipe. Before we talk about what the mask actually does, this is almost worth it for the smell alone. It is legit like slathering your face in a cool, watermelon popsicle. It is incredible! Just putting it on makes me smile. It is nice and cooling, and does an awesome job at rehydrating dull skin as well as exfoliating any rough complexions. It has hyaluronic acids and some low key AHA’s. Having these work together really plump up the skin without making things oily or greasy – PERFECT!
Drunk Elephant Sukari Babyfacial
This is one of those masks that I think are best suited for people that already work pretty hard at the skincare routine. If you are just getting into things like chemical exfoliants or acids, this is maybe something you want to wait on. With that being said, this is hands down one of the MOST effective at home treatments I have ever tried. The Sukari Babyfacial is basically an at home peel, chalked full of AHA’s and different acids. You only leave this on for fifteen to twenty minutes, but it is incredible at how quickly it works. The term “babyfacial” is right on point. Face = baby’s butt status!
Origins Drink Up Intensive
This is one of those things that I will always repurchase. It isn’t anything extra fancy or “high tech,” but it is a tried and true hydration boss. If you have dry skin, try this one out ASAP! I love Origins as a whole brand, and their masks are are no exception. It uses avocado oil and Japanese seaweed to boost skin’s hydration and even help reduce aging signs. I wake up in the morning super plump and fresh!
Detoxifying Silt Gelee Mask
It seems there is a trend in my current favorites masks and their textures. Jelly is queen! This mask from Volition Beauty, a new to me brand, is a little bit of a miracle. It uses black silt to pull out impurities in the skin and clear out clogged pores. At the same time, it has some sort of gel suspension in it with jojoba oil to hydrate at the same time. Much lighter than other detox masks, my skin is left feeling super clean, but not stripped like some of the other favorites. And the kicker are the little sponges it comes with! Total game changer for mask removal. They are so soft and just remove any kind of mask you are use super gently. Highly recommend!
Tata Harper Clarifying Mask
The Tata Harper Clarifying Mask is a more toned down version of the Drunk Elephant mask I mentioned earlier. It still resurfaces skin tone and does a fantastic job at brightening, but it isn’t quite as scary for the skin care newb. It uses more enzymes than AHA’s and gets rid of all those dead surface cells that leave your skin looks a little… meh. You can use this in the morning or evening, since it is ok to apply makeup shortly after! Another fab way to refresh skin before a big day or refresh yourself before a special event.
I would LOVE to hear about some of your own must have masks! I’m always on the hunt for new things, and masks are an easy way to switch up your routine without freaking your skin out too much!
xx
My favourite of the lot would have to be the watermelon mask. I love the fact that you say it has a cooling effect. It would be a treat in summer!

Definitely give some a go! You can ask for a sample at Sephora stores to try before you buy! 🙂
