I always wonder if it is overkill to put together one of these posts. There are so many out there, but they are honestly one of my favorite things to read and watch! I have gone pretty minimal in my daily makeup routine, but I really amped up my skincare this last year and it has paid off. I have a few oldies in here and some new discoveries. Let’s get cracking!

2017 was the year of the falsies for me. I always thought that false lashes were costume like and over the top. But my lashes haven’t been the same since having a baby, and I was sick of mascara smudging under my eyes in the humid summer. Enter in the Ardell Demi Whispies. These are the perfect about of flutter without making you feel like a Who. They aren’t anywhere near as intimidating as they seem, and make standard, every day makeup feel EXTRA!
Tarte Shape Tape has been droned on about a lot in the last two years. I was adamant that nothing beat out my Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer and didn’t purchase it until a friend pretty much forced me into it. Ummmmm, this stuff has SO MUCH COVERAGE. One dip into the concealer is enough for my under eyes, some highlight on the high points of my face and to cover any blemishes I have popping up. It is intense. It took me a while to really love it, because I wasn’t used to such full coverage. But once I got the hang of it, I fell in love. It lasts all day, doesn’t crease or budge and looks flawless. I use the shade Light Sand.
My hair has gone through some pretty dramatic changes since getting pregnant with my oldest. I used to have super curly, unruly hair. By my second trimester, all of my curls were gone and I was left with pretty straight, but frizzy hair that always felt limp. Post pregnancy, it was left feeling thinner than ever and just blah. It wasn’t curly, but it wasn’t straight. And oh, god… The frizz!! Enter the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day! This stuff is magic, I swear. I can let my hair almost dry, then I flip it over and blow dry the roots. I am left with super soft, full (for me) hair that I barely need to run a flat iron through – usually just the underneath bits. It honestly feels like I have someone else’s hair on my head. I haven’t ever been this blessed with smooth, pretty frizz free hair. Plus, I can go three + days without it getting super greasy! Huge win! I also love the dry shampoo when I feel like splurging. (Batiste works just fine for the every day!)
I gave up on using foundation on a daily basis this last year. I was over blending and buffing. When you are putting your makeup on at seven in the morning, it is bound to fade a bit by the evening, and I was done dealing with patchy spots. I tried out a sample of the It Cosmetics CC Cream last year, and it didn’t disappoint. I finally picked up a full size in the late spring This lasts really well throughout the day. It has really good coverage for how light it is on the skin, and it just gives your skin a really great glow. I am on my second tube (which is huge for someone who likes to try new things!) I use the Light shade.
A beauty blender lover for life, I never felt I needed to branch out and try the raved over Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I just knew it wasn’t going to compete. Go ahead and insert eye roll right there. How are these so damn good and a quarter of the price of a Beauty Blender?? They are just as good, if not better. I especially love the flat side for going over my base to make sure everything is smoothed in after I apply it with my fingers.
Last, but not least, the Anastasia Dipbrow. I have been loyal to the Hourglass Brow Arch Sculptor for over five years now, but was feeling spendy on my birthday and decided to branch out. This pomade is incredible. It is super pigmented, the brush is really firm and slim. and it blends out just enough that you get that perfectly faded inner part of your brow. I use this on a regular basis now, and only switch back to a pencil if I am in a super rush or doing makeup in the car. I use medium brown, but could also go with the chocolate if I wanted a bit bolder of a brow.
That’s it for makeup, lovelies! Stay tuned for a post all about my favorite skincare products of 2017 coming at you next week!
This post is so relatable! Babies do such a job on our bodies. My hair was always so full and thick during pregnancy and then fell out in clumps post. Thank goodness those babies are worth it!
They are SO worth it! It sometimes just takes a little pep talk to realize that our post baby bodies and lives are so much better than before. There is so much media regarding getting your pre baby life and body back. I don’t want it! 🙂
