Here we go again! Another holiday, and I am scrambling to get my act together. Nothing new to see here, folks. Thankfully, you all get to benefit from my lack of preparation. Woot! We are getting together for a little impromptu Easter egg hunt this weekend and it made me realize I need to get on an Easter basket for Marcus, too. We don’t do big gifts in our house (thanks, NYC living!) but I decided to throw my last minute Easier Basket ideas together here to show you what we will be doing.

As always with my last minute gift guides, everything is available on Amazon with Prime shipping. Because ain’t nobody got time for browsing the holiday isles of Target when there is spring time fun to be had. My mom was a total boss with holidays when we were growing up, and I totally loved it. For whatever reason, I am the total opposite. I don’t know if it is because I am a bit of a minimalist, or I just don’t have a creative bone in my body, but I did not get the “go all out” gene.
Can you ever have too many markers and fun coloring books? I love to do little gifts that are consumables, but not necessarily just treats. We go through crayons, play dough and glue all the time, so stocking stuffers, prizes and goody bags can always have some art supplies!
Easter Basket – Sand Castle Bucket
When you live in close quarters, everything in your home needs to multi-task and have a purpose other than just “fun.” I saw a great idea to get a good quality sand bucket for the upcoming warm weather for an Easter basket. Freaking brilliant! I doubt Marcus would ever look twice at the adorable, beautiful wicker baskets I dream about. So, functional and up his alley it is! How awesome is this collapsable bucket from Packable Pails?? Makes it so easy to throw in a beach bag, under a stroller or in a backpack for a trip to the park. I’m obsessed.
Crayola Markers – Ultra Clean
I always buy the Ultra Clean Crayola markers, since they are the only ones I know for sure are going to come out of everything. White couch, white uniform, white dog… They have all come out squeaky clean. Because shit happens and sometimes markers get everywhere! When it’s washable, I don’t have to freak out inside.
Activity Books
I love getting books like these Wipeable Workbooks. We bring them when we go out for dinner, pack them for airplane rides and can get in a little “study session” for a few minutes before bed. Amazon has a ton of affordable workbooks and Marcus really gets into the books with scissor practice, like this activity book for under three dollars!
Fluffy Bunny
Every Easter basket needs something soft and cuddly! Marcus loves little beanie babies, and so I obviously had to snag this sweet little rabbit for his basket. So cute and he will add it to the giant pile he sleeps with every night.
Easter Chocolate
Even though I am sure there will be plenty of sugar and treats leading up to Easter, I still like to throw just a little something in the basket. These little chocolate carrots are freaking adorable and the perfect finale to my last minute Easter Basket ideas. Marcus will love giving his little bunny a carrot and then devouring it for himself.
And that is it! If you are like me and feel a little overwhelmed by all of the Pinterest ideas and Instamoms rocking out beautiful spread, fear not! A special gift doesn’t have to include handmade paper flowers or a pair of hand knit pajamas. Markers and fluffies do just the job! And for all you Pinterest mamas out there, teach me your ways! As long as it doesn’t involve losing sleep….
What are your family Easter traditions?

I like the idea of non edibles as an alternative as they get soo much chocolate. Next year we are going to attempt a Zero Waste easter hunt – which should be interesting!

These are awesome ideas! I’m always scrambling last minute to get things done. Literally the only thing I’ve gotten is a Tickle Me Elmo for my baby and that’s it.

I’m right there with you….I am not a crafty Pinterest mamma, but I will through some craft paper, markers and stickers in a basket with a stuffed bunny and call it a day! My daughter will be ecstatic!
Maddy says
haha. I mean, I give all the props to the pinterest moms, but I fail in that department!

I like buying baskets that can be re-used too! I like to get buckets that double as toy bins, Halloween treat buckets, etc to get the most bang out of the money spent and if it is still in good condition the next year we use it again for Easter. We tell the kids it is like a Christmas stocking, you stick it out empty the night before and it gets filled during the night.
Maddy says
Oh, that is brilliant!! We haven’t really chatted about the Easter Bunny. I mean, who the heck is he?? hahaha. I don’t even know the story behind him 😛

Love these characters ntructove ideas as opposed to just treats and eats!
Maddy says
They get so much candy and sweets elsewhere. Makes it easy for me to skip! 😉
