If you have been here for a while, you will know that I am notorious for moving. But our recent move last month brought us to our “forever” home in the city. We won’t be moving until we are leaving NYC! Being a renter has its pros and cons, but a lot of times, the cons can be a little overwhelming. There is nothing more terrifying than being a renter and forking over a month or two in rent as your security deposit. Am I right?
Like most New York apartments, we have wood floors. They are gorgeous and were refinished just before we moved in. So, I want to be sure to keep them in the best shape possible! Since we plan to live here for quite a while, I needed to figure out the best way to care for hardwood floors. Thankfully Bona has made it totally simple and fool proof!
Tips for Hardwood Floor Care
Don’t Let Things Slip Away From You
I have a lot of chores that I hate, but cleaning my floors is one hundred percent my favorite thing to do. I love to sweep, vacuum and mop. So satisfying! If you make sure you stay on top of your floors, than it never feels like a huge undertaking. I make sure to do a quick sweep or vacuum over my house every day. NOBODY wants to be stepping on little boys’ crumbs in the kitchen!
Freshen Things Up Weekly
Make your life easy and set a day that you will mop your floors. I like to do a deep house clean every Friday to set my weekend up for relaxation. I use the Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner to do a once over of all the hardwood in our apartment. With the easy to use mop and washable pad, it takes no time to get my floors shining like new! I love the cleaner that it comes with. No chemical smell and perfectly formulated to be safe on your hardwood!
Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner no residue formulation effectively removes dust, dirt and grime leaving your floors clean and beautiful, and the GREENGUARD GOLD certification confirms it’s safe for use in your home and around your family, so you don’t have to worry about nosy kids or pups. Your floors will be shiny and fresh!
Protect Your Assets
Using rugs in high traffic areas is the perfect way to make sure that your floors will stay in great condition. Consider places like hallways, in front of doors, and under furniture to prevent scratches and give your home a cozy vibe.
Words of Caution!
Be sure to stay away from vinegar based cleaners or DIY recipes. They may seem like the safest option, but they could very easily damage your floor! Watch out for rough and abrasive pads or vacuum bristles, as they can scratch your floors in the blink of an eye.
