Spring has definitely sprung here in New York, and I am totally living for it. We have had a few days above 50 degrees, you can see the tulips starting to pop up, and the days have gotten just a bit longer. It is glorious to say the least.
Jumpsuits have now been a trend for a few years, and I had yet to find my diamond in the rough. I have a longer than average torso, and when you throw in my height, it felt like I couldn’t find anything that was just right for me.
I think I tried on at least ten jumpsuits and none of them were exactly what I was looking for. But then I went into Lane Bryant and tried a few different jumpsuits and was pleasantly surprised when they just kept getting better. I stood in the dressing room, and jumped on their website to see if I was missing any gems, and this olive green one (it’s an online exclusive) really stood out to me.
It looked comfortable, chic, and super flattering. I took a chance, and knew this had to be mine.
Styling a Jumpsuit
One of the things I love about jumpsuits is how versatile they can be. This one in particular is super easy to dress up or down. For every day, I love throwing a duster cardigan on, a simple sandal or flat, and my work tote. It’s an easy outfit that you don’t really have to think about.
Much like throwing a dress on, a jumpsuit just feels and looks like a complete outfit on it’s own, so you look like you are put together no matter what. For those days when you just don’t know what to wear but don’t want to be fancy, a jumpsuit can be your best friend.
Dress It Up
I can’t wait to wear this for date night. The fact that it feels like I am wearing pajamas is just a plus, but this would look bomb with a sexy pair of heels, a leather jacket and bold red lip. Sign me up for comfort and sex appeal, all rolled up in one cute outfit!
Casual Weekend Vibes
I wore this over the weekend with my favorite Converse sneakers and a denim jacket. It was the perfect mix of casual and cute, with a dash of Sporty Spice thrown in.
Office Appropriate
A pointed leopard flat and black blazer would make this great for every day at the office. It is modern and gives off serious boss lady vibes. And did I mention it would almost be like wearing pj’s to work?
About the Look
The Jumpsuit
The jumpsuit is made from super soft jersey material. It has an elastic waistband and zips all the way up the back. The tie waist is removable and looks super cute tied at the front or the back. It has short dolman like sleeves and is the perfect length on my tall frame. It would work on shorter bodies, too, as you could just blouse up the top half of the jumpsuit a bit more than I have!
And there are pockets. Need I say more?
The Sweater
I take back everything I said about longer sweater. They are my current favorite layering pieces, and an oatmeal colored duster is a closet essential. This one is thin and lightweight, making it perfect for spring, and the early summer months. It is super soft and the perfect warm tone for my wardrobe.
The Shoes
If you struggle with finding sandals that are wide enough, you should definitely check out Lane Bryant’s selection. They are made for a wide foot, and run pretty generous. I hate when a toe is hanging off a sandal or I feel like my feet are spilling out of my shoes. I would size down one if you don’t have a wide foot.
I honestly am beyond excited that I found my gem of a jumpsuit. It has been a long time coming, and I don’t think I could have found a better one! I know I say this all the time, but don’t give up if there is a trend you are looking to try. You may need to dig a little to find exactly what you are looking for, but it is out there!
