I still don’t know exactly what happened to May. It went by in the blink of an eye, and the world shifted dramatically. I read a quote this weekend that said, “There are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks where decades happen.” Mountains were moved in May and this first week of June.
With Phase One starting here in New York City (FINALLY!) I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can’t wait to start slowly moving back into the world and wearing real clothes, but maybe not jeans just yet…
I haven’t ever done a monthly favorites post before, but thought it would be fun to share the best of the best in a few different categories. I feel like I share a lot of things, all of which I loved. But here you will find the cream of the crop.

RECENT FAVORITES
- This recipe for Herb Salt. I have been putting it on everything. Eggs, steak, chicken, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, burrata, and salmon. So… everything that I have made lately. It is SO good.
- Who knew I would love a toaster oven as much as I do. I recently found out that an air fryer was just a glorified convection oven. I couldn’t ever justify the space an air fryer took up, but once I learned that, I took the plunge on this toaster oven. Be sure to get a toaster oven basket to make things extra crispy.
- Love Lettering by Kate Clayborn was AMAZING and one of my favorite books I’ve read recently. I absolutely loved it. It was light and fun, and such a different take on your standard romance book. It really sucked me in. The writing created so many beautiful visuals, and I really enjoyed every minute.
- Random homewares continue with a mini printer. I know most people are out of school already, but between printing shipping labels with stores closed and all of the school papers, I couldn’t last another day without a printer. We don’t have a large space, so I love that I can just pop this one in and out of the cupboard.
- This dress from Target has been worn three times in the week since I got it. If that doesn’t tell you how much I love it, I’m not sure what will.
- I’m slowly turning into a full-blown plant lady, and I have Dirt Queen to thank for that! A few weeks ago, I did a virtual appointment with her. We FaceTimed in my home and I showed her my windows, which direction they face, buildings that may be blocking sunlight, and what I was hoping to do with some plants. She helped me pick out a few easy to care for plants that will do well in my space. I can’t wait for this little apartment to come together.
- I seem to always have a new foundation favorite, but I have been wearing the Nars Radiant Longwear Foundation for about a month, and it is so good. It gives me a really flawless, matte finish without being flat. It covers all my acne scars and lasts really well, even on hot and muggy days.
- A NEW RUG!! I did it. I got rid of the FOREVER shedding West Elm rug that has driven me crazy for the last year and a half. When I shared about how frustrating it was, I had so many of you message me to say that you had the same issues with your rug from W.E. and that it never actually stopped. Enough was enough. I loved it so much and was so sad to get rid of it, but I couldn’t stand it for another minute. I went back and forth on a rug and ended up buying this one from Boutique Rugs. It is super soft, and while it is a synthetic fabric, it hasn’t shed a thread! (USE CODE SUMMER55 FOR 55% OFF)
- DEFENDING JACOB on AppleTV was one of the best-scripted tv shows I have watched in a very long time. I don’t really LOVE tv, and I am always multitasking when watching shows with Mr. G. But this one made me put my phone down. I was so invested! The end is amazing, the beginning is gripping, and you will be hooked on the first episode. Plus, Chris Evans.
- I have to write this one out to remember for posterity, but the IKEA parking lot has become our playground. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have jumped in our car and driven the 15 minutes to Brooklyn’s IKEA to ride scooters, have picnics, and get fresh air by the water in the parking lot. On our first visit, there wasn’t a soul to be seen, but now we see lots of families with the same ideas, and it makes me so happy. It has truly been the little things that have gotten us through the last 14 weeks. Hooray for phase one!
