It’s August, which means if you’re anything like me, you are absolutely ready for Autumn to arrive while at the same time dying of the summer heat. I want all the cozy things, but it is still blistering hot outside.
Enter the transitional wardrobe. I have found some gorgeous dresses that can serve “Sexy Summer Babe” or “Fabulous Fall Queen.” With a variety of textures, lengths, and colors, these dresses provide flexibility when it comes to the ranging temperatures, events, and the everyday vibe you’re looking for.
Puffy sleeves and babydoll-esq dresses are in this season and I’m here for it. The big bow on this Madewell dress is gorgeous, and I love the square neckline on this linen dress from J.Crew. Such perfect fabrics and lengths to keep you cool in the summer, but pair with leggings, boots, or a scarf and they’re Autumn-ready. And not to be to on the nose, but the orange color of this puff-sleeve dress from Target could give so many looks for the fall season! Add some sandals and big hoop earrings and it is a summer sorbet color.
Accessories go a long way when helping define a transitional outfit. Hats, earrings, scarves, and shoes can completely change the vibe of these dresses. With the right pair of heels, this dress from Walmart goes from farmer’s market chic to night out on the town.
Throw some strappy sandals and a wide-brimmed hat with this sexy piece from Anthropologie you’ll be ready for your end of summer party. Change the shoes to boots and this dress is ready for your glammed-up pumpkin patch photo shoot.
Whether you’ve got a budget to keep to, limited closet space, or simply want to keep versatile pieces in your closet, these dresses are perfect additions to your wardrobe. I can’t wait for Autumn to finally get here, but in the meantime, I’ll be staying cool while also giving *pumpkin spice*.
P.S. The dress in my featured image is from Anthro’s collection last year! While this color pattern isn’t sold now, they do have some new colorways that are just as beautiful and just as transitional.
