There used to be nothing more daunting to me than going into a store to find a swimsuit. The stress and anxiety wound me up and would make the entire experience miserable. Before even putting a swimsuit on.
Now, I am beyond thankful for online shopping! Not only are the options so much more than they were even just a few years ago, but I can order some swimsuits to my house, put on some music, and just try them on. No one rushing me in the fitting room. Judging the amount I bring back to be put away. Or that terrible dressing room lighting.
Can we all agree to buy the swimsuit we WANT and at least try it on at home? Just to see our body in the suit of our dreams?
I’m linking up all the swimwear I am trying this year in one, convenient place, right here! Be sure to pin this post for later, as I will keep updated THIS POST throughout the spring and summer with all of my swimwear choices.
ABOUT ME
I am 5/10″ with a very long torso and shorter legs, proportionally. I normally wear a size 24, but like to size up in swimwear to accommodate my longer torso. I usually opt for a 26 in swimwear.

LAND’S END
This was my favorite suit from everything I ordered. It is an underwire top that had plenty of room in my chest. It was nice and long, with adjustable straps. The bottoms are not super high waisted, and I could have used an extra inch or two in the rise to feel totally happy with them.
I love that Land’s End offers some of their suits in Plus LONG! Hallelujah! I wish more brands would do this. This one piece is incredibly supportive for a one piece with a shelf bra. I love the stripes and it was very full coverage in the back.
I freaking loved this suit, but it just wasn’t a perfect fit for me. I would have much preferred the long length in this, but it isn’t an offered option. Such a bummer. But the texture of the fabric and the key hole cut out in this are chic.
If you are looking for a classic suit that you can wear for years, this is the one! It is a two piece that is offered in both regular length and long. I tried both and honestly couldn’t tell a difference between the two. These bottoms are SUPER high waisted. Just how I like them to be. It is just a shelf bra, but it is fitted so well that you can easily wear it as a strapless top. The straps are both adjustable and removable.
The coverup is so gorgeous. A thin, breathable shirt top that is just a bit sheer. It fits true to size.
Absolutely love this rash guard. There isn’t a bra or any support in it, so I would personally wear a bikini top under or some sort of swim suit. It is thin and doesn’t feel heavy or hot, but offers UV protection! It runs true to size, and I am 100% keeping it! These are the same bottoms as the yellow ones.
TARGET
I was super excited for this, because I loved the retro vibe. It has removable straps and is meant to be worn bandeau style. It was a little short in my torso, something that happens often for me with one pieces. Otherwise, it fits true to size with good support.
This is such a cute cover up. I am wearing the 3X. It fits true to size, but if you want a looser fit, I would suggest going up on, especially if you are hippier or carry weight in your midsection.
This is my number one pick from this batch of suits. It is so dang cute, and I had plenty of length in my torso. If you are on the more petite side, you could size down potentially.
This suit is so cute. I love the white background and the color of the floral pattern. It has shirred sides and lots of support. Unfortunately, it was just a smidge too short for me.
I’m not normally a two piece girl, only on special occasions, but I LOVE this top. It has total surfer vibes, I think? Lots of coverage, and a ton of support. The high waited bottoms are really comfortable, and are a nice high rise in the back, as well.
I really liked this top, but the straps were a little long. Could be easily rectified with a tailor, or if the manufacturer had just added in adjusters! You could potentially size down in this top, as it has am ore blousy vibe. This should be standard, in my opinion. Bottoms are the same as above.
LOFT
Love this coverup. Really lightweight, soft, and easy to throw on pre or post swim. It has a subtle pattern detail, and the off the shoulder straps aren’t too tight.
This swimsuit runs true to size to slightly small. I felt like it pulled a little bit against the lower half of my body, making the color shift a bit with the lining showing through. Not my number one pick of the bunch I have tried so far!
FAVORITE COVER UP TO DATE! Absolutely love this. It is so dang cute, flirty comfortable, lightweight. Shall I go on? I ordered my normal size in loft, which is a 26. But if you have a shorter torso, or are under 5’6″, I would potentially size down, as it fits generous. I just need the length in the torso.
OLD NAVY
Ok, so Old Navy has been a home run for me for swim three years running now. I think in part because they offer up to a 4X in most of their pieces. For my tall, long torso babes, you know that sometimes you just need to size up!
I found that most of the cups were cut very generous. In all of the two pieces, I would have preferred a 3X on top, as the 4X was too big for even my large chest. The bottoms run true to size, and while a 3X “fits”, I like my swim wear, especially the bottoms, to not cut too tight. No one wants a see through swimsuit when all the fabric gets pulled tight. Or extra lumps from it cutting into you.
With Old Navy swim, at least in the plus size offerings, I think you could size down if you are in between. Otherwise, stay true to size!
