I didn’t realize that Mother’s Day was coming up until I was chatting with my mom about our would have been Mother’s Day trip we had planned over the weekend. But apparently it is two weeks, and I decided to hop on it, for the sake of my husband.
This year, I wanted to take control and not end up disappointed. Please tell me I am not the only one who does this? Picks their own gifts out, sometimes even buying them and placing them in their spouse’s lap for them to wrap and hand back to you? We all have our strong points, but holidays like this one can be hit or miss.
This Mother’s Day, there should be no pressure to shop at all. It is safe to say we would all just appreciate being appreciated. A hand written note, specially drawn card, or something as simple as having some special treats sent over is more than enough. But if you are like me, and want to make the day special with a gift for yourself, your mother or a special friend who may be struggling through isolation, here is a simple gift guide of some of my personal favorite small shops offering gifts that would be perfect for almost any mom.
While I get to be someone doted over and given love and appreciation on this day now, I have spent way more years using this day as to appreciate my own mom! You will want to head over to my Instagram Stories to see what I bought for her this year (I am blocking her for the day, so she will be surprised!)

OLIVE AND JUNE THE EVERYTHING BOX
We all know I am an O&J fan. Their polish is awesome, gorgeous colors and long lasting formulas. But their tool kits are my ride or die. Between the buffing cube, the cuticle serum and the clean up brush, my at home manicure game has never been so strong. The Everything Box comes with six polishes and everything you need to live your best nail life. The Studio Box is another kit that has all the tools The Everything Box does, just with one polish and top coat.
THE LIPSTICK JOURNEY LIQUID LIPS
Anna is a cancer warrior who has used lipstick to be creative and share her feelings throughout her journey through fighting cancer. She has channelled her passion into creating her own lipstick line with a focus on giving back. Every purchase made helps volunteers, fighters and donations to some of her favorite organizations.
Antique Candle Co is an amazing woman owned and operated business making hand poured, soy wax candles that use natural and non toxic fragrances. Some of my favorite scents are Apple Pickin’, Country Pear, and Georgia Peach. They come is adorable mason jars and even have some vintage tin options that are one of a kind!
Kacey of PS46 is an incredible human being. So kind and beyond talented. All of her jewelry is impeccable, and you can customize most pieces with whatever you’d like. From initials, to a special character, this is the perfect gift for a special lady on Mother’s Day.
After sending out Christmas Cards in April with Marcus and getting videos and messages from our friends and family about how lovely it was to receive a special note during this time, I think that some adorable stationary is an awesome idea. This plant set from Etsy is super adorable, and anything Rifle Paper Co is a go in my book.
So, I am kind of planning my own Mother’s Day this year. And the theme this year is kitchen! I bought myself a Hedley and Bennett apron, and can’t wait for it to come in the mail. Passing it along to Mr G to have Marcus wrap it up and “surprise” me. If you want something done right, and all that… 😉 You can use the code HELLOHEDLEY for 10% off your order!
This is the only shop/gift on this page I haven’t yet ordered from personally. But FoxBairn has incredible reviews, and holy cow! Her family trees are just stunning. I am hoping to put one of these together for my own home, and gift one to my mom, as well! Though that may not happen until her birthday this summer, since I am a bit behind on the ancestry front. If you have a detailed family history, you can get a gorgeous family tree made with up to six generations!
