This week was such a good one, primarily because school finished! Hooray! Not that distance learning was horrible hard. Little G’s school did such a great job throughout the pandemic, but it just felt draining to be sat at the dining room table day in and day out. It was fun to see how much he learned, but I am very much ready for the break. We celebrated in Central Park to have lunch with the turtles.
Onto the best bits of the week!

Olive and June sent me their newest collection with Zeba, a lifestyle brand created by the beautiful Nabela. I’ve done a few manicures now, but my favorite colors from the range are Wild and Free (“fierce coral thatʼs all fun”) and Fierce & Loving (“fresh lilac that is unapologetically unique”). They are bright and fun, and just a step up from my usual colors. It even gave me the push to finally do my toes. The first time since quarantine. Shhhh.
Speaking of toes, I finally did a Baby Foot Peel a few weeks ago, and my feet have finally stopped peeling and shedding. I’m not going to lie, these are so disgusting. I know lots of people find the skin peeling thing satisfying, but I find it absolutely horrifying. It did a decent job, but I still have a few deep cracks that nothing will fix. Let me know if you would like a full review!
I got through two more books this week. I often get asked how I find time to read, and honestly, I just make the time! Getting off my phone helps a ton, especially in the evening. I used to scroll the gram for an hour before bed, but now make sure to plug my phone in outside on the other side of the room to avoid temptation.
Both books I read were from my BOM subscription. Beach Read was the perfect light read that sucked me right in and kept me interested the entire time. Perfect rom-com! It was what I needed after a super heavy week and a boost to my spirits. I stayed up till 2:00 in the morning and read it within 24 hours. The main character is a writer, and I think that just gave me all the feels.
One to Watch was SUCH a good read. I am never sure how having a fat main character is going to play out, but Bea is strong and confident, and I thought her feelings and inner dialogue was so well done. She is a plus size babe that goes onto a Bachelor/Love Island style show, and I just LOVED it.
Mr. G has been waiting for The Last of Us II to come out for a million years, and I had been prepped to expect him to be playing video games all night long for the foreseeable future. So, I obviously started to watch Normal People on HULU after having so many of you recommend it. Holy smokes. I’m not sure how I feel thinking that the Irish high schoolers are so attractive, but DANG this show is spicy. And I love it. Very rated R, but oh so good. (Thankfully the actors are ACTUALLY in high school haha)
I’m basing my entire week around making this smashed potato salad. I don’t do normal potato salad unless it is Dominican, but this warm and fresh version looks BOMB.
I personally attribute the change in my skin from horrific cystic acne to just slightly blemish prone to the queen, Caroline Hirons. I discovered her blog way back in 2013 when I lived in London, stood in line for hours just to meet her, and have religiously followed much of her skincare advice ever since. She recently released a book all about no nonsense skincare, and I can’t wait for it to arrive!
I did this awesome Yoga for Beginners video on YouTube from Jessamyn Stanley. Going to try to get a bit better about regular stretching! We shall see.
Lastly, this eyeshadow palette I got in from ColourPop last week has been a staple for me. It is so affordable and the colors are gorgeous. They blend really easily and are super soft and buttery with great color pay off. If you are looking for a warm shadow palette for the summer, this is the one!
