I have gotten a little dressed up the last few days in a cute spring outfit, and let me tell you. It has made my heart sing! I didn’t realize how much of a fashion rut I was in thanks to the cold winter and pregnancy. But I am ready to turn over a fresh leaf for spring and feel inspired and fabulous again.
With this new season is coming a new stage of life for me, and as much as I love a good skirt and top combo, I LOVE dresses. But so many dresses aren’t conducive to breastfeeding, and that is going to be my life for at least the next year, if not longer. Having to keep boob access in mind with every outfit you put on can feel a little restricting. So buying things that will work while nursing from here on out is essential for me.
Here are a few things I keep in mind when looking for nursing friendly clothing, particularly dresses. Button front tops and dresses are AMAZING for breastfeeding people. Just pop open a couple buttons and you are good to go! Wrap dresses are also great, because they can easily be adjusted or generally have a low enough neckline that popping out a boob is no big deal. Stretchy necklines or straps, like smocked fabric, make nursing super easy.
Keep in mind, that everyone has different preferences. I have a friend who doesn’t like having her full breast exposed while nursing, so something like a smocked dress and bringing a breast over the top isn’t going to work as well. For me, as long as a nipple is free, than we are good to go!

Maddy, You have inspired me to go through my closet to pull out all my cute nursing friendly clothes (especially dresses). The recent reduction in spit-up has made the fashion worth the risk! Fyi, puracy stain remover is great for spit-up and other baby stain. 😉
