It is no secret that I am all about a capsule wardrobe. Having pieces in your closet that mix and match and an outfit ready whenever you are is my favorite way to dress. And shop! But building up staples can be expensive at times, so I went to Target on the hunt for some affordable fall staples.
I have a “loose” capsule closet. I have some pieces that don’t fit anywhere into my capsule, but because I love them, they get to stay for those special occasions. I know having a capsule may not seem like that much fun, but I promise! You will never feel better dressed than when you stick to a “theme” and fill your closet with FAVORITES instead of FUN.
Why a Capsule Wardrobe is So Amazing
If you are anything like myself, you have found yourself with a closet full of clothes, but nothing to wear. Sound familiar? If you seem to always be buying new, fun clothes, but still go back to your old favorites, then a capsule wardrobe might be for you.
You know that you will always have something to wear that fits your style, body and daily life. If you don’t go into an office every day, you might not have a blazer in your capsule. If you are a busy mom on the go, you may have a few more dresses in yours – throwing on a dress is an instant “I’m put together today” with no effort at all look.
What to Look For
Keep things simple. You don’t need bold patterns, embroidery or over the top accessories to create cute outfits. My style is simple and classic, with a bit of leopard thrown in for good measure. A bright color here and there or an interesting texture all add some interest to your wardrobe while still keeping everything cohesive.
Mix and Match
Don’t be afraid to try new things with your current clothes. Different patterns can mix with a fun texture to create a brand new look. Pair affordable staples with high end pieces to elevate things and expand your wardrobe without shrinking your wallet. Think about choosing pieces that layer easily and coordinate.
Don’t Be Afraid To Try Something Different
You’d be surprised how many things I think I am going to hate, only to try it on and feel fabulous. Doing fit testing at Gwynnie Bee has really opened my eyes to no limiting myself to my usual pieces. Thinking a little outside the box can really open up a whole new world of fashion possibilities!
