I don’t think it will come as any surprise here that I pretty much wear some combination of the same few things over and over. If I’m not in comfies at home or going out for a date or girls night, my “momiform” is on. Once I found what clothing worked for my body and what made me feel comfortable and put together, the uniform took shape. For me, that means casual shoes (almost always sneakers!), jeans, and some kind of cozy top in the colder months. I have shared a few of my favorite things in my capsule wardrobe before, but I wanted to share my favorites that I have been wearing during these cold months – my momiform essentials.

Jeans
Other than leggings and a pair of joggers, the only other pants I own are jeans. I have two pairs of distressed jeans, a dark wash and a boyfriend fit jean. All in high rise to suck the mom pooch in, please! Finding that perfect fitting pair of jeans is like looking for a needle in a haystack. It takes WORK. Couldn’t even begin to tell you how many stores I went to and sweaty dressing room sessions that ended nearly in tears. Then, I found THE ONE. Jeans are the trickiest to find because very body is so different. But when you do, buy every style, every wash, and never have to look for another pair.
Perfect Tee
Just like with jeans, not all t-shirts are going to work for everyone. I know that I want a super affordable tee that I could have multiple colors of for layering. Target does it again! The Ava and Viv t-shirts are so cheap and they fit me perfectly. I have a long torso and big boobs, which means that most tops fall a little shorter on me than I prefer. These hit right at my hips, are cut super flattering and are thin enough to look great under anything from chunky sweaters to flannel button downs. I have invested in a few nicer ones that I wear when I want to look a tiny bit more polished. A few good t-shirts are momiform essentials every woman needs!
Cardigan
When I created my autumn capsule wardrobe, I tried to keep in mind finding pieces that would also transition into spring. My body runs a little on the warm side, so thinner sweaters are my jam. Boyfriend style cardis meet all my requirements. Fashionable. Relaxed. And the perfect length to break up my t-shirt and jeans.
Sneakers
Back in the day, flats and heeled boots got me through the winter months. Now, I want something easy to slip on and comfortable enough to kick a soccer ball around the park. No laces are an even bigger plus. Is it true that moms turn back into toddlers during this phase in life? Because I totally feel like it sometimes! I found the most amazing blush colored kicks yesterday and am stoked to have a new pair to get me into the spring months. I am sure that I will bust out a pair of flats here and there when the weather warms up, but for now, I rock these on the daily school run.
Pieces in your closet that are reoccurring don’t have to be boring. Keep to a similar color palette but mix textures, patterns and styles to add variety. Capsule wardrobes and having a “uniform” make life so much simpler!
